Prostate Cancer Green Tea Extract - The polyphenols in green tea have been shown to provide potent protection against prostate cancer. Numerous studies have shown that green tea polyphenols thwart cancer development by blocking the proliferation and spread of tumor cells, by inhibiting the growth of tumor nurturing blood vessels, and by reducing the metastasis (spread) of cancer cells. Green tea polyphenols can also deactivate enzymes that cancers need for growth. The green tea polyphenol most strongly associated with cancer prevention is epigallocatechin-3-gallate, or EGCG. Even after cancer has been diagnosed, green tea has the potential to halt its progression and even reverse it.
Vitamin D reduces risk of prostate cancer. In the recent Physician's Health Study at Harvard and Brigham, researchers evaluated data on 15,000 men. Those with higher vitamin D levels had half the risk of developing prostate cancer and one-fourth the risk of developing aggressive tumors as the group with lower vitamin D levels. Lycopene, extracted from tomatoes, is a potent antioxidant that has been shown in both epidemiological and clinical studies to improve prostate health. Lycopene has been positively associated with reduced risk of prostate cancer. Modified Citrus Pectin has been shown to block metastatis in cases of prostate and other cancers. Recent studies have demonstrated that Vitamin E should also be added to the list of nutritional preventive medicines for prostate cancer. Men with the highest levels of alpha tocopherol in their blood were 51% less likely to develop prostate cancer.
