New Improved Formula: Phytosome technology provides dramatically improved curcumin absorption. We are pleased to announce that Inflammation Control now contains Meriva®* Turmeric Phytosome complex. Meriva® combines turmeric extract with phosphatidylcholine from soy lecithin forming a bioavailable turmeric phytosome complex that is significantly better absorbed than regular turmeric extracts. Oral absorption of curcumin, the active component in turmeric, is generally poor due to its low solubility and instability in the intestinal environment. The Meriva® phytosome complex greatly increases stability and enhances oral absorption by over 20-fold creating a highly bioavailable form of curcumin. While the total amount of turmeric extract has been reduced slightly in Inflammation Control , we find the higher absorption of Meriva® more than compensates by providing a better utilized form of curcumin. The body's ability to maintain a natural balance of enzymes such as cyclooxgenase 1 and 2 (COX-1 and COX-2) that regulate inflammatory physiological response mechanisms is critical to the health of the entire body.
