Conjugated Linoleic Acid
Manufactured by ProThera

Conjugated linoleic acid, a naturally-occurring derivative of linoleic acid, is an omega-6 fatty acid with unique physiological effects on fat metabolism and the immune system. Conjugated Linoleic Acid has been proven to assist in weight loss, help slow cancer growth, and protect against atherosclerosis. Research shows that CLA supplementation helps improve lean to fat body mass ratio. This benefit is enhanced by but not completely dependent on exercise. It is thought that CLA acts to reduce the adipocytes' (fat storage cells') ability to extract fat from the blood steam, while also improving the metabolism of fats in the mitochondria of striated muscle cells. CLA apparently also inhibits the development of new adipocytes and reduces the breakdown of muscle tissue in the production of energy. CLA also acts as an antiinflammatory, mitigates stress-induced immune suppression, functions as an antioxidant, reduces the risk of breast cancer, reduces the risk of atherosclerosis and heart disease, normalizes impaired glucose tolerance and is therefore helpful in preventing insulin resistance and adult onset diabetes.
