More information about Green Tea
Research studies have shown geen tea extract to provide protection against several forms of cancer: skin, stomach, esopagus, liver, pancreas, duodenum, breast and colon. Recent studies have shown a remarkable effect of green tea: it helps protect the skin from proliferative damage (i.e., skin cancer) after--yes, after!--you have been exposed to the sun. A component of green tea known as EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) causes skin cancer cells to self destruct while leaving healthy skin cells unchanged. Green tea inhibits the adherence and proliferation of gingivitis-causing bacteria, thus reducing periodontal disease and tooth loss. Green tea is a thermogenic agent, also known as a “fat burner.” Green tea reduces cholesterol. Green tea contains catechins that are powerful antioxidants. Green tea catechins significantly lower blood glucose levels in Type II diabetics. Green tea extract decreases insulin resistance and restores insulin response to normal. Green tea increases bone density according to a recent study in the Archives of Internal Medicine (May 13, 2001).
